CEPHALOMETRIC X-RAY

What are Ceph X-rays used for?
A cephalometric x-ray is a tool, which allows dentists and orthodontists to capture a complete image of the side of the face. They allow us to view the teeth, jawbone, and soft tissues. Ceph X-rays are used to determine if there are any developmental concerns involving the head, neck, and jaw.

They are commonly used to:

  • Analyze TMJ concerns
  • Find reasons for excessive tooth misalignment – such as an overbite or underbite
  • Find tooth and/or jaw fractures
  • Identify exact measurements of teeth including their root structures
  • Plan orthodontic procedures

A Ceph is particularly useful in understanding the complexities of overbites and underbites, because the position or underdevelopment of the jaw plays a big role when it comes to these concerns. They have made themselves invaluable when it pertains to orthodontic work because dentists need to evaluate the movement of the teeth, sometimes the jaw, over the course of several years.

AIRFLOW®

Airflow Therapy is a cutting-edge technology designed to gently, quickly, and thoroughly remove biofilm. Polishing and stain removal will still take place during your appointment, with the added therapeutic benefits of complete biofilm removal leading to better clinical outcomes.

WHAT IS BIOFILM?

BIOFILM is a colony of bacteria that have clustered together and attached to a surface. Even though it is a scientific term, biofilm is found in your everyday life — usually in areas with moisture.

WHY BIOFILM IS A CONCERN?

Biofilm, commonly known in dentistry as plaque, is always forming on teeth. Even when it is removed, it is not gone for long. Managing dental plaque/biofilm is an ongoing endeavor.

Without active removal from tooth surfaces, biofilm accumulation can escalate to varying degrees causing potential infection and inflammation — leading to oral diseases and eventual tooth and implant loss

CONE-BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY(CBCT)

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a cutting-edge imaging method that has clinical applications in dentistry. CBCT is successful for investigating in the field of dental and maxillofacial imaging. The radiation exposure from CBCT is less than 10 times from conventional CT scans during maxillofacial exposure. CBCT is very accurate when providing three-dimensional data.

CBCT scans are used for: Applications in oral and maxillofacial surgery, endodontics, implant dentistry, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) imaging, and in periodontics.
